As with most of our acquisition and rehabilitation projects, the Sunswept community was targeted by the City of Garden Grove as part of a continuing effort to stabilize the Buena Clinton neighborhood. The Buena Clinton neighborhood is a one-quarter square mile area of low-income apartment communities located on the southeast side of Garden Grove, California. This area had a history of high crime, open drug markets, overcrowding, and sub-standard housing. Opportune Companies worked together with the City of Garden Grove’s Community Development, Police and Community Services departments along with other property owners and community based organizations to stabilize this neighborhood.
The Opportune Companies performed a complete rehabilitation and transformed this community into a healthy and peaceful living environment.
Through Opportune Companies proactive management procedures and policies, the criminal element was eliminated and the community was stabilized. Maintaining a crime and drug free environment has allowed for calls for services to be virtually non-existent at the Sunswept community.
Sunswept is a 16 unit family community that is comprised of 8, one bedroom and 8, two bedroom homes. The homes are provided to families whose incomes are at 50% of the area median income. |
