Located at the intersection of Ceres and Sierra Avenues, The Gardens at Sierra is a continuation of the City of Fontana’s commitment to providing affordable senior housing in its downtown redevelopment area. Close proximity to existing retail, medical facilities, and the City’s transportation center, which includes a Metrolink and bus station, were all important factors in the decision to continue developing affordable senior housing complexes in the downtown area. Several other partnerships have followed as a result of our work in downtown Fontana. These projects have not only changed the lives of the senior residents that call them home, but have changed the character of Fontana’s downtown.
The overall design concept of The Gardens has an architectural design similar to the original design model of the community, envisioned by the founder of Fontana, A.B. Miller. The projects are built in a, California Mission style that blends gracefully with other downtown buildings.
The three story, ninety-three unit, senior, security-gated facility includes seventy-five, one bedroom and eighteen, two bedroom homes. This development offers over 5,200 square feet of community and recreation areas, including a media center, library, full-sized fitness center, indoor and outdoor lounges, a pool and spa, large BBQ deck with picnic seating, a shuffleboard court, and a spacious community room.
The homes are provided to seniors whose incomes are at 50% of the area median income. Resident social services are provided to all residents as well as planned activities, events, and seminars.
